How to take a $2800 4 Day Trip for $750
How to take a 4 day, 3 night Anniversary Trip 3/4th off!
Last week the sweetheart and I took off for Southern Orange County Beaches for a 3 night-4 day get away.
Being the frugal traveler, I started looking for deals in early December. Alaska Air offered amazing deals, $40 each way to Orange County from Seattle... AND it was good for the weekend of our 30th Anniversary! WooHoo! With tax, license and dealer's prep that was only $101 per person round trip.
I started searching for hotels on the beach. I started tracking hotels on YAPTA.com. Found something within our budget, but still needed a car and, what do you know, through Hotels.com I was able to get a car and the hotel for less than the hotel directly. WOW! A king suite, ocean view, with breakfast and free covered parking for three nights with a car from Thrifty for $343!
The sweetheart loves to golf, my anniversary gift to him was 18 holes at the beautiful Monarch Bay Golf Club, on line special two for one....
Then where to go for the anniversary dinner... Restaurant.com had certificates for Tortilla Flats, lake view table, drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert bringing our tab down from $90 to only $50! Holy Mole!
The sweetheart likes to fly FIRST CLASS, and by getting to the airport two hours ahead of our flight, I was able to do a 'paid' upgrade to first for $50 each, each way, effectively doubled the $101 price of coach tickets to $200 RT FIRST CLASS tickets per person. Serious savings...
